From the grocery store
about 1.5 lb boneless chicken thighs. Any store, on the way home. Not in the cart button; we do not sell chicken.
From your kitchen
a crockpot, two forks, salt, a lime if one is rolling around the fridge.
What to do
- Chicken in the crockpot. Broth, tomatoes, cumin, chili powder, garlic, taco sauce over it. Lid on. Low for 6 hours, or high for 3.
- Shred the chicken in the pot with two forks. It falls apart; it has been waiting to.
- Drained beans and corn in. 15 more minutes. Salt it properly; broth needs more than you think.
- Bowls. A fistful of tortilla strips on each one, and the lime if you have it. The strips are the recipe; the soup is the excuse.
