From the grocery store
1 lb ground beef, 4 hamburger buns. Any store, on the way home. Not in the cart button; we do not sell beef.
From your kitchen
a pan, a wooden spoon, a spoonful of sugar, salt and pepper.
What to do
- Brown the beef in the pan with the minced onion. Pour off most of the fat. Leave a little; it is flavour.
- Tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, garlic powder, chili powder, a spoonful of sugar. Stir. Simmer 10 minutes, until it is thick enough to stay on a bun, mostly.
- Salt and pepper. Taste. More ketchup if it wants sweet, more mustard if it wants sharp.
- Onto the buns. It is called sloppy. Manage your expectations and your napkins.
